Q: my internal door brass door handle turns but the latch does not so door cannot be opened the handle is less than 12 months old but [the company we purchased them] from will not replace them is there anyway to repair them? thanks Nirmal.

A: Take the handles off and look inside, there are several parts to the door that might be causing the problem. There should be a central spindle that connects the handles on either side of the door via the latch. If this is not turning the latch because it isn't connecting properly with a handle or latch you may be able to fix this with a dab of thick glue. If the hole in the latch is turning but latch itself is not moving, then the latch unit is broken and you will need to replace it with a similar unit, however you can probably keep the handles.
