Shower units come in three main types;
- Electric showers heat cold water to the required heat, great for houses with lots of people and small hot water tanks since you aren't draining your main hot water tank.
- Mixer showers mix your hot and cold water in a valve to the required temperature. As the shower is connected to other pipes, you may experience scalding or freezing water when someone uses the plumbing elsewhere in the house.
- Power showers are mixer showers that use a pump to pull water from your pipes at great speed, because of the volume of water used, you'll need large water tanks in your home
