Quick Tip of the Week

Posted Apr 04, 2007

To mark a perfectly vertical line, never use a wall or doorframe but use a plumbline. A plumbline is basically a weight on a bit of string. Dip the string in talcum powder if you want to leave a mark on the surface for your line. Hold the string so the weight points vertically downwards. Once it’s hanging, move the string against the wall and there you have it, a perfectly straight line, avoiding the overlap of rulers that are too small and skewed doorframes!
