Winter Hints and Tips

- Check your heating system, especially if you don't use it the rest of the year. If necessary get a heating technician out to look at your system. The last thing you want is to find your heating doesn't work when you most need it!
- Check the batteries on your smoke and carbon dioxide detectors; as you start needing extra heating there is always the risk of a rarely used or badly maintained heater causing a problem.
- Now is the ideal time to clean your gutters - the leaves of autumn have mostly fallen and if you do it now, you won't get a nasty surprise next time it rains heavily.
- Check the lagging and insulation on pipes that run up external walls and in garages - the first cold snap of the year can cause problems with pipes that don't get any heat.
